The Casa De Cultura in El Verger (2 minutes from the Ondara shopping centre) will be hosting 'A Musical Gala' on Thursday 18th October. The Gala will be an evening filled with a diverse range of music from inspirational and uplifting to musical theatre, stopping off at popular music en route.

The whole show will be performed by six different singing groups. Sounds Familiar will be performing excerpts from their upcoming 10th Anniversary show 'Showstoppers'. Also appearing will be three separate choirs, the Vall Del Pop Singers, the U3A Oliva Choir and the Chaplaincy Singers. All three choirs have their own style of music. Adagio, the seven piece harmony group will be singing songs from their past and future repertoire, and the whole evening will be hosted by Amadeus, the three part cabaret group.

Apart from the evening being great entertainment in itself, it will also give you the opportunity to see what is coming up on the Costa Blanca in the next six to eight months, so you can decide if you want to see more of any particular group.

Every group will be performing their own set separately, except in the Finale when all the groups will join together for the first time.

The evening will be helping to raise money for local charity and the Raffle on the night could win you a meal voucher at one of several local restaurants, with all the proceeds from the raffle going to Jalon Valley Help.

The evening has been generously supported by Telitec and the Ajuntament Del Verger.

Sounds Familiar

Sounds Familiar formed in October 2008 with the aim of putting on revues of well known songs from musical theatre and popular culture.

Over the years they have tackled numbers from all the major West End and Broadway musicals, the Silver Screen, Disney, the Great American Songbook, as well as a full scale production of the Charles Dickens classic 'A Christmas Carol' and a staged concert production of 'The Pirates of Penzance' last year.

Chaplaincy Singers

Chaplaincy SingersThe singers were formed for a 'one off' presentation of the Graham Kendrick Christmas suite “The Gift”. In the end this was presented three times during the Christmas season in 2017. The group had great fun working together on this project and felt that they wanted to stay together and tackle other music and have been meeting every week since.

Open to anyone, the Chaplaincy Singers aim to present music with a religious, spiritual or uplifting message. There is no requirement for you to be a member of a Church to join this group. All you need is a love of singing.
